Chris Thackeray

Chris is responsible for developing business models and is lead negotiator on power CCUS and BECCS, as part of the government’s CCUS programme He also leads international engagement on CCUS. Prior to moving to the Department of Energy Security & Net Zero, previously Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, in March 2021, Chris was Head of GB Wholesale Markets at Ofgem where he led on power market design issues and regulation of the Capacity Market. Before that, Chris did various commercial, policy and delivery roles at the National Grid Electricity System Operator where he was a graduate. Chris’ education is in management, economics and policy as well as a masters in climate change.
