Dr Philipp Tünnerhoff

Philipp Tunnerhoff amprion

Philipp Tünnerhoff was born in Dortmund, Germany, in 1988. He received his Bachelor and Master degree in electrical engineering at Aachen University in 2011 and 2014, respectively.

Between 2014 and 2019, he worked as a research assistant at Aachen University focusing on the transient behavior and the protection of VSC HVDC systems. During this time, he was head of the HVDC Control and Protection research team as well as the Grid Integration and Stability department. He received his doctoral degree in electrical engineering in 2020.

Since 2019, he works in the Offshore department of the German transmission system operation Amprion, where he is currently coordinating the two offshore projects LanWin1 and LanWin3 as project manager. The two projects are scheduled to be commissioned in 2031 and 2033, respectively.

He is an active member of VDE and CIGRÉ.
