
Dr Spyros Karamitsos (MEng, MSc, PhD) is Senior Electrical Engineer at Scottish Power Renewables – Iberdrola, London, UK, currently working on the East Anglia Hub (EAH) – Offshore Windfarm (OWF). He is also the Elected CIGRE Regular Member of Study Committee C4 (System Technical Performance) for the UK (2020-2022). He holds an M.Eng. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, an M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering for Sustainable and Renewable Energy from the University of Nottingham, UK, and a PhD degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, UK. He has a multidisciplinary background in the electrical energy field, with over seven years of professional experience, working as Power Systems Engineer/Consultant at HVDC TECH and as Industrial-Researcher at the University of Strathclyde, where he developed a track record of leading research and technical feasibility projects for network operators and equipment manufacturers. He has authored several scientific papers and technical reports on power system applications and has been contributing to organisations like CIGRE, IEEE and IET.
