Muhammad Nur Ali Akbar, Reservoir Engineer Prores AS, Norway

Muhammad Nur Ali Akbar is an integrated Reservoir Engineer and Petrophysicist with over 8 years of extensive international experience in the field development of oil and gas, exploration, and CCUS (carbon capture, utilization, and storage) projects. He has worked in diverse locations including Hungary, Croatia, Norway, and Indonesia. Currently, he holds a senior reservoir engineer position at Prores AS, based in Norway. Prior to this, Muhammad served as a reservoir engineer at MOL Hungary, working with the West-Hungarian Field Development Subsurface Team. In Indonesia, he began his career in 2014 as a reservoir engineer and petrophysicist consultant at the Indonesia R&D Centre of Oil and Gas – LEMIGAS and LAPI ITB. During this time, he contributed to various exploration and field development plan projects for esteemed energy organizations such as Pertamina, Petronas, Repsol, and Ophir. 

Muhammad holds a BSc in Petroleum Engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology & Science, as well as an MSc in Petroleum Geo-Engineering from the University of Miskolc. He has an impressive record of publishing and presenting more than 20 technical papers. His contributions have earned him numerous technical awards from esteemed professional societies. Additionally, he actively participates as a technical distinguished speaker for SPWLA, also being a reviewer for reputable scientific and engineering journals. Muhammad’s research interests encompass the integrated field of naturally fractured basement reservoir characterization, fracture and rock typing, rock physics, and advanced geostatistical methods. He is a valued member of professional organizations such as SPWLA, SPE, and EAGE. Notably, he served as the president of the SPWLA Indonesia chapter from 2017 to 2019 and successfully led the 2nd SPWLA Asia Pacific Technical Symposium in 2018, held in Bogor, Indonesia.
