Rainer Bachmann mastered in physics at the University RWTH Aachen, he then became responsible for software-based process automation in KRUPP steel plants and an international engineering company of the KRUPP group. He moved to THYSSEN where he managed operations and software development of the overall order processing. Later he became CIO of a major, international mining and drilling company of the THYSSEN group and then headed IT and Innovation at DEMINEX, at that time the largest German E+P company operating on a worldwide level.
He became a partner in the internal management and strategy consultancy of the RWE group, later heading the Business Development for E-Mobility.
In 2012 he returned to management and strategy consultancy as a board member of 2 associated consulting companies for utilities and e-mobility.
In 2017 he became CIO of the global e-mobility business of E.ON, leading the H2020-funded MEISTER research project and representing E.ON in workgroups of the relevant energy associations in Germany, working directly with the government on digitalization of the energy transition.
Since 2021 he is CEO at E:E Consulting GmbH, an international management and strategy consulting company for utilities and e-mobility and a member of the EU Technology Chamber (EUTEC), which is the largest technology association in the EU and a member of the EU Senate for Technology.
