Ph.D. William LEON GARCIA has dedicated nearly 9‑years of professional activity doing research and development on multi-terminal HVDC systems. While working with the SuperGrid Institute since its foundation in 2014, he graduated from Grenoble INP and Grenoble Alps University (Grenoble – France) obtaining his master’s and PhD degrees in 2014 and 2017 respectively.
He led SuperGrid’s tasks on hardware-in-the-loop testing of HVDC protection strategies for the European Horizon project PROMOTioN until 2020. He then became technical business developer to foster collaborations around HVDC R&D and accelerate the development of DC technologies through partnerships. He is also leading the Working Group 1 in the European project READY4DC, to deliver recommendations on multi-terminal multi-vendor HVDC modelling, simulation, and testing.
