Before moving to GSE, In 2014-2022, he worked at the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission and in different years held the positions of Deputy Director of the Electricity Department, First Deputy Director of the Electricity Department, and Director of the Department. In 2013-2022 he was the head of the technical direction of the Association of Young Professionals in Energy of Georgia (AYPEG), in 2013-2014 he was a counsellor to Deloitte Consulting in matters of electricity market development. In the early years he worked at G-Power LLC, Energy Invest, in 2005-2006 he was a grid operation mode engineer of the Dispatch Planning Department of JSC Georgian State Electrosystem.
Zviad has many years of experience in participating in and managing international projects. In 2017-2022 he was a member of Regulatory Council of the Energy Union from GNERC, in 2021-2022 – elected chairman of the Electricity Markets and Economic Regulation Committee of the Regional Association of Energy Regulators; At various times, he worked as a consultant of Optima Energy Consulting, an expert of the European Regulatory Council, a project manager of the Association of Young Professionals in Energy of Georgia, an expert of PMO Consulting, an expert/trainer of the International School of Economics AISET. He was a renewable energy expert in a project funded by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), project leader-researcher of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Policy and Management Consulting Group (PMCG). At the time being, Zviad Gachechiladze is Council of European Energy Regulator’s (CEER) expert in EU4Energy project in Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia,
Zviad graduated from the Faculty of Energy of the Technical University of Georgia. He is a Master of Technical University of Georgia, has been awarded the academic degree of Doctor of Sciences. He was engaged in active pedagogical work: he was a visiting associate professor of the Faculty of Energy and Telecommunications of the Technical University of Georgia, a visiting assistant professor of the Faculty of Energy and Telecommunications of the Technical University of Georgia, associate professor of Grigol Robakidze University. He is a participant of more than 50 certified international training conferences, author of scientific articles and monographs.
