HyDeploy, the first project in the UK to blend hydrogen into a natural gas network has been hailed a success in a report published recently. Customers used hydrogen-blended gas safely in their homes and without the need to make any changes to their existing appliances. 100 homes and 30 university buildings on a private gas network at Keele University received the blended gas for a period of 18 months which ended in Spring 2021.

Thiozen Inc., an industry leader in low emission hydrogen technology has announced that it has raised almost €2.5 million in Series Seed funding. The round was led by Eni Next, the venture investment vehicle of Eni S.p.A, with participation from Good Growth Capital and Mount Wilson Ventures. Thiozen generates hydrogen from high-volume industrial waste stream and water, avoiding the large carbon footprint of traditional hydrogen production.

Energy storage developer dCarbonX and Ireland’s energy firm, ESB have joined hands to develop a large-scale facility for storing green hydrogen offshore. Known as the ‘Green Hydrogen at Kinsale’ project, it has a projected capacity of storing up to 3 TWh of green hydrogen and ammonia, a common hydrogen carrier. The project aims to repurpose the defunct Kinsale Head natural gas reservoirs for storing the hydrogen.

The partners will work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to promote the decarbonisation of industrial processes, while also engaging in the planning of the proposed new port facilities in Rio Grande do Norte to support such offshore energy developments.

Salamander 200MW offshore wind farm will accommodate a floating facility to produce hydrogen offshore, according to a new memorandum of understanding signed by its developers. The hydrogen facility's technology will combine electrolysis, desalination and hydrogen production on a floating wind platform. The manufactured hydrogen will be transported to the mainland via a pipeline.
