Vestas, a world leader in manufacturing wind turbines has secured a 58MW deal to supply turbines to Crookwell 3 wind farm in New South Wales, Australia. The wind farm will require 16 turbines from Vestas’ V126-3.45 MW category which have an individual capacity of 3.6MW each. Once Vestas has supplied and installed the turbines it will also commit to servicing them. The servicing contract will be for 15 years which will not only optimise the energy output of Crookwell 3 but also secure long-term business case certainty to the wind farm project. The deal has been secured in collaboration with the Global Power Generation (Naturgy Group).

Purvin Patel, President of Vestas Asia Pacific said: “As the largest installer and maintainer of wind turbines, both globally and nationally, we are pleased that customers like Global Power Generation (Naturgy Group) continue to choose our leading technology, market experience and broad service solutions.”

Peter Cowling, Head of Vestas Australia and New Zealand said: “Global Power Generation (Naturgy Group) is a globally valued customer to Vestas. We look forward to championing their ambitious vision of sustainability in Australia through the successful delivery of Crookwell 3 Wind Farm, and our remaining projects which are currently in progress.”

Pedro Serrano, Chief Business Development Officer, Global Power Generation (Naturgy Group) said: “Once again, Global Power Generation is very pleased to partner with Vestas as OEM and long-term maintenance provider for Crookwell 3 Wind Farm.”

This is not Vestas’ first collaboration with Crookwell. Crookwell 3 is located close to Crookwell 1, which was the first wind farm to be established in New South Wales. It was commissioned in 1998. It has operated successfully since then. This wind farm features 8 of Vestas’ V44-600 kW wind turbines. Vestas is expected to deliver wind turbines for Crookwell 3 in the second quarter of 2022. By the end of the year, the wind farm is expected to begin operations. Once operational, it will generate enough electricity to power almost 40,000 homes and create 95 skilled jobs.
